East Liberty Presbyterian Church tour and dinner

  • East Liberty Presbyterian Church 116 S. Highland Ave Pittsburgh, PA 15206 (map)

Join us for a tour of East Liberty Presbyterian Church at 4:00 p.m. on January 29.  Architect Ralph Adams Cram is famous for leading the American gothic revival in the first half of the twentieth century. He designed the largest church in America, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York (still under construction!), as well as Princeton University's campus. Three Pittsburgh churches boast Cram designs; East Liberty Presbyterian is one, and Calvary Episcopal, where we will be listening to Bach on (the Western) Good Friday, is another. A tour of the church will be followed by dinner and a brief talk on the life of Cram, who is honored as a saint in the Episcopal Church, and the theology of sacred architecture.  Dinner is catered by Union Pig & Chicken (brisket and mac and cheese, anyone?).

East Liberty Presbyterian is located at 116 S. Highland Ave, a short ride on the 71B from Pitt / CMU.
